If you don't know by following my Instagram (mastering_motherhood) I'm a huge fan of healthier options. I'm always thinking of longevity, clearer skin, blood flow, aging gracefully, etc. Just pure overall health and the benefits of food that nature provides for us. Not only are herbs and spices great for your health they add delicious flavor to dishes. I add them to vegetables, pasta and seafood dishes. I love reading articles about herbs and spices and their benefits. One of my long term goals is to start a spice line. In my cookbook, The Art of Cooking Healthy Meals as a Busy Mom I list my favorite herbs and spices. Herbs are the leaves of the plant and spices come from the roots, bark and seeds.
Here are a few of my favorites and their benefits:
Basil great for booting the immune system, promotes healthy liver function and lowers cholesterol. It's also known to fight cancer and prevents radiation poisoning.
Pink Himalayan Salt fosters healthy pH balance, promotes better sleep, lowers blood pressure, promotes sinus and respiratory healthy.
Tumeric is an anti-inflammatory, prevents asthma, improves digestion, natural antibiotic, treat skin disorders.
Cinnamon is an odor neutralizer, aids in weight loss, cancer preventative, and fights yeast infections.
Rosemary is said to be a mood enhancer, improves memory and blood flow, anti- aging properties.
